On November 25th and 26th, the Foundation Los Hijos del Sol along with its community partners, will provide pediatric care, deworming, oral hygiene, and vaccination to the Wayuu Indigenous Community of Uchitu’u in Cabo de la Vela. This two-day event aims to update the census that was developed back in 2012 and form stronger bonds with this community of people living in conditions of vulnerability.

In recent days, the president of the Foundation, Iliana Curiel Arismendy, along with Executive Director Eleonora Arango Castrillón and indigenous leader Remedios Fajardo Ipuana, met with the community’s leaders and traditional authorities in order to gain their approval to work in the community. They hope to join forces with the community leaders to improve the quality of life in Uchitu’u .

Meanwhile, a team from the Colombian Society of Pediatrics led by Dr. Gloria Zuccardi will attend the health fair and bring donations collected from a month and a half ago. In addition, the Colombian Society of Pediatrics will donate a playground to Los Hijos del Sol for use by the Uchitu’u community. The playground will be installed during the two-day event and inaugurated at the end of the day on November 26th. The playground will serve as a symbol for the legacy that the Foundation Los Hijos del Sol – Süchonni Ka’i plans to leave in this community as part of its mission to improve child health through holistic means.
