We work to consolidate our position as the leading institution in scientific research on culturally appropriate Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in Colombian pediatric indigenous populations.
We are a non-profit foundation that realizes research projects and scientific publications, completes community service projects, and gains institutional support on issues related to Health Promotion and Disease Prevention in pediatric indigenous communities.
The idea of creating a foundation to help Colombian indigenous children and adolescents with unsatisfied basic needs, who for years have been forgotten by their local leaders and National Government, and sometimes even rejected by their own countrymen, was born in the minds of two friends, Iliana Curiel Arismendy and Eleonora Arango Castrillón. Their shared dream became a reality with the formation of the foundation Los Hijos del Sol -Süchonni Ka’i which serves indigenous Colombian communities.
It was at the end of the year in 2014 while sitting in a red hammock under the magic and charm that only Jepirra (Cabo de la Vela, La Guajira, Colombia) possesses that they both decided to create a foundation combining their different knowledge and professional experiences to benefit the indigenous children in Colombia.
